This colloquium serves as a venue for research, providing a window into the characteristics of Korean (modern) education in global and East Asian context cross-and-comparatively. Offering various perspectives of domestic and overseas invited scholars, it explores unique theoretical frame giving overall picture of Korean education that transcend not only the 'cultural essentialism' focusing on specificity of Asian value but also the 'Western universalism' viewing the Western modern era through the prism of universality.
